IPEG Guidelines

The IPEG has formulated several guidelines for recording and analysis methods of EEG signals, as applied in pharmaco-EEG studies. At the moment there are 5 guidelines available and one on statistical methods is presently being developed. These 5 guidelines partly overlap due to the fact that during the past 15 years, that the guidelines were developed, there has been an evolution in technical and analytical possibilities, especially through the advent in automation and computer techniques. Still these guidelines should be considered as a suite of recommendations and not as a series of each other replacing recommendations.

  1. Guidelines for Pharmaco-EEG Studies in Man (1982)
  2. Recommendations for Standardization of Data Acquisition and Signal Analysis (1987)
  3. Recommendations for EEG and Evoked Potential Mapping (1990)
  4. Registration and Computer-Supported Evaluation of Pharmaco-EEG Data (1995)
  5. IPEG Guideline on Statistical Design and Analysis for Pharmacodynamic Trials (1998)
