I am very pleased to announce that the 14th Biennial Meeting of the International Pharmaco-EEG Society (IPEG) will take place in Japan for 4 days on Thursday, 7th, Friday 8th, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th, September, 2006. The meeting venue is the Hotel "Anaga" on the Awaji island of Hyogo prefecture, famous for its beautiful scenery. I should like to have many people join this meeting from all over the world as well as from Japan. The International Pharmaco-EEG Society (IPEG) is a relatively young society founded by Prof. Stille and Prof. Hermann in 1980. The number of members has reached over 200, mainly from Europe. The purpose of this society is to promote the use of electroencephalography, electrophysiology and related functional methods, such as evoked responses, for electrophysiological brain research in preclinical and clinical pharmacology and related fields, and also to promote communications among members and relative institutions. Research techniques are mainly assessment of brain function by quantitative assessment of brain wave using high analytical techniques. Such brain functional diagnosis and assessment techniques are highly appreciated for their usefulness and widely applied clinically as an examination technique which gives patients no pain. Therefore, this technique will contribute to the advancement of the field of clinical neuropharmacology.

As an organizer, I should like to make efforts to ensure the success of this international meeting, and hope that many people will join the meeting and provide us support for the success of this meeting.
